2015 Aspen Ideas Festival

At the Aspen Institute’s 2015 Spotlight: Health, Kathleen Sebelius joined four others leaders involved in drafting and passing the ACA to talk about how the law passed, survived fierce opposition, and likely will evolve in the coming years. Joining Sebelius were former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Nancy-Ann DeParle, former U.S. Sen. Bill Frist, former U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, and moderator Steve Clemons of the Atlantic.

With the Supreme Court's ruling that the federal government can continue to provide health insurance subsidies, the Affordable Care Act, as President Obama said in reaction to the ruling, "is here to stay." Five Washington insiders, including Democrats who drafted the bill and guided it into law, and a Republican who urged state governors to set up insurance exchanges, will talk about how we reached this moment.

Kathleen Sebelius visited the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas to discuss her journey in public service from Kansas politics to her work in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet. The event launched the Dole 2015 Presidential Lecture Series: The First Women President 2.0. She was interviewed by the Dole Institute’s director, Bill Lacy.
